Crewing on a balloon team has many perks. We are up early and getting our day going, hanging out with our friends and drinking champagne (after the flight of course), going on out of town trips, getting balloon rides when available, breakfast after the flight, and just having fun. But then again, when that phone rings at 4:00 AM waking me up to meet at the launch field, I sometimes wonder if it is worth it - getting out of a warm bed, putting the balloon together in freezing January temperatures, packing it back up again while the pilots schmooze with the passengers. My answer; definitely worth it.
